Youth Climate
Network
and Development Initiative
Empowering young people to lead climate action through innovation, education, advocacy, and community-driven solutions for a more sustainable and resilient future.

Our Mission
Empowering Young People to Lead Climate Action
Africa is disproportionately affected by climate change despite contributing the least to global emissions. Yet across the continent, young people are developing innovative solutions, mobilizing communities, and leading the transition toward a more sustainable future.
The Youth Climate Network and Development Initiative (YCN-DI) exists to educate, empower, and connect young people to become effective climate leaders. Through advocacy, innovation, partnerships, and community-driven action, we equip youth to create lasting environmental and social impact from local communities to national and global platforms.
Educate
Building climate literacy among young people across schools, campuses, and communities.
Empower
Equipping youth with the skills, tools, and platforms to lead meaningful climate action.
Connect
Linking young climate leaders to networks, partners, and opportunities that scale impact.
Act
Driving community-led projects that deliver lasting environmental and social change.

Connecting Local Action to Global Conversations
YCN-DI contributes to global climate dialogue by engaging with international networks, participating in global learning opportunities, and ensuring that youth perspectives help shape conversations on climate action and sustainable development.
Connecting Local Action with Global Opportunities

Voices
Stories of Change
Representing YCN-DI at the ICAT Nigeria Phase II Close-Out Workshop on Climate Transparency Frameworks provided valuable insights into strengthening Nigeria's climate governance systems. The workshop reinforced the importance of institutionalizing climate transparency mechanisms within government institutions to ensure long-term sustainability beyond project implementation. It also highlighted the value of inclusive stakeholder engagement by bringing together government agencies, civil society organizations, youth, persons with disabilities, and development partners to advance a transparent, participatory, and accountable climate action process.
Joining YCN-DI has increased my climate awareness, strengthened my confidence in advocacy, and inspired me to contribute to positive change in my community.
